MEBA Stacker — Privacy Policy

MEBA Stacker is a desktop application. Your images are processed locally on your computer. We built the app to need as little of your data as possible — there are no user accounts and no login.

What we collect, and when

1. Anonymous processing reports (opt-in). If you opt in (a clear yes/no choice on first run), the app sends a report after processing runs to help us improve results. Reports contain: - technical processing data (stage timings, quality metrics, settings used, camera/telescope metadata from file headers, error messages) - a downsized preview of the processed result — never your full-resolution image and never your raw frames, unless you explicitly choose to share it (see below) - an anonymous random install identifier (so repeat reports group together)

Reports contain no name, no email, no account, and no file paths. Beta builds may require reporting as a condition of the beta program; release builds keep it strictly optional and it can be turned off at any time in settings.

1a. Shared image data (separate, explicit opt-in). When leaving feedback on a result, you can tick an unchecked box to send us that stack's processed image data (the "master", typically ~100 MB) so we can reproduce and fix the issue. This is never automatic, never pre-checked, and covers only that one stack. Shared masters are used for debugging and quality tuning only, are never shared with anyone else, and are deleted once the issue is resolved. Your raw capture frames are never uploaded.

1b. Feedback contact email (separate, optional). Feedback forms include an optional email field so we can follow up on, or tell you we fixed, something you reported. It is stored separately from the anonymous reports, used only for messages about your reports (no newsletter, no marketing), and every such email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that deletes the address.

2. Update and version checks. The app periodically asks our server "what's the latest version?" This request carries standard connection information (IP address, app version) and nothing else. IP addresses are not stored with reports.

3. License activation (paid versions). Activating a license sends your license key and an anonymous machine identifier to our server to enforce the seat limit. Trials send the anonymous install identifier and trial start date. No personal profile is built from this.

4. Purchases. Purchases are processed by Paddle.com as merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing country, and email to process the transaction, issue invoices, and handle taxes under [Paddle's privacy policy](https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy). We receive your email and order details (to deliver your license key and provide support) — never your payment card data.

5. Mailing list (separate, opt-in). If you subscribe to our newsletter on the website, your email is stored by [Buttondown] with double opt-in. Unsubscribe links are in every email. Subscribing is never required to use the Software.

What we do NOT do

- No selling or renting of any data, to anyone, ever. - No advertising, no tracking pixels in the app, no third-party analytics SDKs. - No collection of your images beyond the opt-in downsized preview and the explicitly opt-in shared masters above. - No reading of files outside the folders you point the app at. The app never modifies or deletes your original capture files.

Where data lives and how long

Report and license data are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure (R2/D1, [REGION/JURISDICTION NOTE]). Processing reports are retained while relevant for product improvement and then deleted; you may request deletion of the data tied to your install identifier (shown in the app's About screen) at any time.

Your rights

Depending on your location (including the EU/UK GDPR and California CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data we hold. Because we hold almost nothing tied to you personally, most requests reduce to: deleting your install identifier's reports, and/or your purchase email records (subject to legal bookkeeping requirements). Children

The Software is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We'll post any changes here with a new "last updated" date; material changes to what the app sends will also be reflected in the in-app consent.
